1997 News Article

Crest.gifWoodinville, WA November 15, 1997 - Mini Family History Tour of Susquehanna County Pennsylvania was enjoyed by Michael Jex, Jon Sterling, Mary Jean Williams, and MJ's friend Marty.  We met for the first time and spent the weekend finding our ancestors in some of the most beautiful country you can imagine.  We found many of our Sterling, Tewksbury and other ancestors graves, and were treated to a wonderful roast beef dinner at the Universalist Church in Brooklyn.  During the dinner we were introduced to several members of the community, and Mary Jean was able to gather a large amount of cemetery information.  (See her related posting in what's new.)

The Brooklyn Historical Society has a number of books that we purchased while in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.  They include A history of Brooklyn, by W.O. Weston,  History of Susquehanna County Pennsylvania, by Emily C. Blackman, and Centennial fall_susquehanna_small.jpgHistory of Susquehanna County Pennsylvania, by Rhamanthus M. Stocker.  These books are all available from The Brooklyn Historical Society, Brooklyn, PA.

There are quite a number of cemeteries in the area, there are three in Brooklyn.   Check out Mary Jean's Williams website for more details.  Mary has added a great deal of information to her website just recently, so if you haven't visited in awhile, take a look!  It is located at http://home.stny.lrun.com/brown/.
