29 Jan 2000 - Bloomington, Idaho Hugh Sterling of Manchester, New Hampshire Family

Hugh Sterling, undoubtedly a Scots or Scots-Irish emigrant to America, appears first at Manchester, New Hampshire.

The name of Sterling, Stirling, or Starling does not appear among the probate records of Carroll county, from which it would appear that the family migrated elsewhere, probably to Pennsylvania. A Hugh Sterling was
deputy to Sheriff McCormick of Fayette CO., Penn. in 1776, but, so far as has been established, was not identified with the Hugh of Conway. (Fayette Co. Hist.)
